Fruit-Infused Water Makes Hydration Interesting Again

Water is probably the most basic of needs for survival. Most adults know the importance of hydration and would drink water even without the feeling of thirst. Adults drink to hydrate and not just to quench their need.

However, children are different. They are driven by their IDs and would often wait for extreme sensation of thirst before drinking water. Some adults are like this as well. Children are hyperactive and stay under the sun more often and they get dehydrated most of the time. You can provide water bottles for them and remind them to drink from time to time but it’s frustrating to see their water bottles untouched.

Frustration and worry — you know that your child’s stubbornness is creating havoc to his or her health . It seems that they just don’t like drinking water or they got tired of drinking old and boring water. Some call it “plain water blues”.

Lifehack: Trick Your Senses. Make Water Fun Again.

The idea is to trick your children’s (or your) taste buds so you will drink as much water as possible. Make drinking water sensational and remove the blandness. Drink the new idea called “Fruit-Infused Water”!

Adding fruits to flavor the water is a perfect and healthy solution to staying hydrated. This idea will make water interesting again.  Plus the vitamins and minerals each fruits can give you. Below are recipes for fruit-infused water with several healthy advantages like boosting metabolisms, improving digestion, preventing skin dryness and flushing out of toxins.

Strawberry-Flavored Water:

4 – 6 strawberries, hulled and quartered
½ lemon sliced
ice and cold filtered water

Watermelon-Flavored Water:

2 slices of watermelon, cut into thirds or quarters
ice and cold filtered water

Directions:
1. Simply fill pitcher to the top with fruit and ice.
2. Cover with cold filtered water.
3. For best flavor, let the water infuse at least one hour. If you’re in a hurry, poke a few holes on your fruit and enjoy instant flavor. You can add small handful basil to add freshness.

Citrus – Infused Water:

3 slices of orange
1 slice of lemon
1 slice of lime
2 slices of grapefruit

Direction:
1. In a water bottle,  combine all citrus slices.
2. Add water according to taste, for this can be bitter depending on how much citrus you will use.
3. Put the water bottle in the refrigerator for 4-8 hours, or overnight. Longer infusions result in more flavors.

Blueberry – Infused Water

½ pint blueberries
64 oz water

Directions:
1. Add fruits to 64 oz water.
2. You may add lavender flowers to taste.
3. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes.
4. Strain, add ice and ready to drink.
5. This will make at least 8 servings.
